Kalari Yoga: India’s Warrior Movement Practice

Sunday 3rd August in Eumundi CWA Community Hall - 9am - 11am

Facebook group - https://www.facebook.com/events/707562438746054/

Step into the roots of yoga through Kalaripayattu—an ancient Indian martial art that seamlessly integrates movement, meditation, massage, healing, and energetic awareness. Known as the "mother of martial arts," Kalari offers a full-spectrum embodied practice that awakens the senses, sharpens focus, and grounds you deeply in your physical and energetic body. This is a tradition where the body becomes all eyes—fully awake, alert, and alive.

Kalari Yoga bridges the worlds of martial discipline and yogic inquiry. It invites you to explore power, precision, fluidity, and presence through dynamic sequences inspired by animal stances, elemental forces, and the rhythms of nature. You'll learn to move from your center, cultivate instinctive intelligence, and strengthen your connection to both ancestral memory and present-moment awareness.

In this immersive workshop, you'll:

  •  Build foundational strength through grounding stances and Kalari step work
  •  Explore flowing warm-ups, core activations, and kicking techniques unique to the Kalari tradition
  •  Deepen your understanding of body mudras (full-body energetic postures)
  •  Practice defensive and evasive movements to expand spatial awareness and fluid responsiveness
  •  Learn how to integrate these movements into your existing yoga or movement practice, or craft new rituals for vitality and resilience

Whether you're a yogi looking to energize your sadhana, a mover seeking fluid strength, or simply a beginner curious about the deeper roots of body wisdom in Indian traditions—this experience will awaken a primal intelligence within you and reconnect you with your power.
