Dr. Girish Balachandran Nair
Dr. Girish Balachandran Nair, MD is a Pulmonary and Critical Care physician, educator, and innovator whose career bridges medicine, research, and cultural heritage. He serves as the Director of Interstitial Lung Disease at the University of Kentucky, where he leads efforts in patient care, advanced research, and mentorship.
Dr. Nair’s academic work focuses on pulmonary fibrosis and interstitial lung disease, emphasizing translational physiology and molecular mechanisms of lung injury. He is building a state-of-the-art translational pulmonary research lab, advancing early diagnostic and therapeutic approaches that connect bench science to bedside medicine.
Outside academia, Dr. Nair honors the legacy of his father and teacher, Guru Balachandran Nair, a world-renowned Kalaripayattu master and Ayurvedic healer. Through the Kalariyil Dharmikam Ashram, he is creating an international center for wellness, traditional healing, and cultural preservation — integrating Ayurveda, Kalaripayattu, and holistic living with modern healthcare and hospitality.
With a unique vision that unites science, spirituality, and service, Dr. Nair continues to inspire students, patients, and communities worldwide, working at the intersection of medicine, culture, and human resilience.

Lalita Yagnik
Lalita Yagnik is a Musician, Kalari Healing practitioner, Martial Art/Yoga Instructor, and Naturopath. She is passionate about helping others develop focus, discipline and strength in mind and body. Lalita has been training with her teachers in Kerala every year since 2009.

Jessin Raj TS
Jessin Raj TS is the General Manager of the Kalariyil Dharmikam Ashram, where he oversees all operations, ensuring the smooth and vibrant life of the ashram. With over 25 years of experience in Kalaripayattu and Kalari Ayurveda, he is also a senior instructor, passionately guiding students with deep expertise and unwavering dedication to the tradition. Jessin’s leadership seamlessly blends strategic vision with hands-on mentorship, preserving the lineage while fostering the growth, skill, and wellbeing of the entire community.

Aswin J.S
Aswin J.S has been dedicated to the practice of Kalaripayattu for over 15 years. A senior instructor at the Kalariyil Dharmikam Ashram, he also serves as the ashram’s accountant and manager, ensuring both the tradition and community are well supported. In addition, he is a trained Kalari Ayurveda practitioner, offering treatments that integrate the healing and martial aspects of the art. With deep lived experience, Aswin brings passion, precision, and a high level of skill to his classes, with a strong focus on technique and mastery across all areas of Kalari practice.
